This year, instead of making resolutions or doing short term challenges, I really wanted to make better lifestyle choices that didn’t just impact me for a short period of time, but I wanted to adapt changes that make me better for the long run. So I’ve created a 12 Month Scripture Plan and I’m ready to witness the difference. Are you there too?
I saw somewhere that whatever you repeat daily, you can make a habit of. And if you do something for 15 days straight, it will become a habit. I have tried lots of things that haven’t stuck to becoming a habit so I understand how this can come true but I have also seen things just fall to the wayside once the motivation leaves.
It’s also been a lot easier for me to stick to things when I pray and set an intention for it first. That was true when my husband and I stopped eating meat, when we’ve fasted and also when I committed to reading and writing more. I prayed, set the intention and stuck with it.
So, when I wanted to deepen my faith, I wanted to adapt a position of commitment. I set an intention to pray more everyday making time for devotion, reading the word and writing to Him. With this 12 Month Scripture Plan I want to ease into these changes. It may sound like a lot but if I create time for everything else I can certainly make time for God.
When I set the intention, I wanted to also wake up earlier to make the time but I am so not a morning person and so it has been a struggle. However, I do wake up just 30 minutes earlier than normal and I listen to worship music, pray, read and start to get up for the day. I do all of that from the bed. My hope is that I can wake up two hours earlier than normal, get out of the bed for prayer and worship, read and write.
To do this, I wanted to begin something that was achievable. I didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew. So, I found a way to chew it. Each day, I pray and meditate on one scripture for the week, AFTER my morning devotion. I look at the scripture, read it, write it daily on a planning sheet and thank God for His word.
The Details for the 12 Month Scripture Plan…
Every week there’s a different scripture, every month is a different theme. I hope you’ll join me and listen to what God has for us through a simple act of persistence, habit of prayer and a small moment of gratitude. I’m already hopeful for what this will do for me so hopefully you’ll write to me and let me know how it’s working for you! I’m also opening slots to join The Caldwell Creative on a 4-week Entrepreneurship Devotional! Click here to grab a spot early and get $10 off! Let’s get to it!
